Uncovering the Hidden History of an Adirondack Maple Sugaring Empire

Updated: Jun 20

Thursday, April 25 at 7:00 p.m.

At the turn of the century, the Adirondacks were home to an industrial scale maple sugaring operation. A.A. Low’s Horse Shoe Forestry Company was unlike anything that had ever been seen before, and though it was short-lived, traces of it can still be found on the landscape.

Join us at the Alice on April 25 for a presentation by Matthew Thomas, historian and author of A Sugarbush Like None Other: Adirondack Maple Syrup and the Horse Shoe Forestry Company, to learn more about this unique moment in New York State maple history.

This is a free program and maple treats will be served!
