About the event
You've heard about the Alice's costume club; now come through for our COSTUME SCHOOL, where we will provide more structured projects (including both materials and instruction!) for those interested in adding to their historic needlework skills and wardrobe. In March, we'll be working on a TIE-ON POCKET, the form of separately worn pocket used instead of sewn-in pockets in women's dress through the 18th and early 19th centuries. Sometimes embroidered, sometimes patchworked, sometimes made with printed calico and other decorative features, these pockets were often beautiful and always useful. (If you've ever despaired that a dress or skirt you loved didn't come with pockets, this project is for you!)
Advance registration for this workshop is requested; registration includes all needed supplies for a $10 materials fee.
